Undergraduate Programs

The Agribusiness minor is open to students in all majors at UNL. The 18 credit hour minor focuses on key aspects of agribusiness such as management, marketing, economics, and accounting. These foundational courses are paired with six credit hours of agricultural economics electives creating an option for you to tailor your minor to fit your career goals and give you a competitive edge in the job market. Open to students in all UNL majors, adding the 18 credit hour Agricultural Economics minor enhances understanding of the essentials of farm and ranch management, marketing, and economics as it relates to the environment and agriculture. With an additional five credit hours in program electives, you have the option of exploring areas of interest such as ag law and policy, agribusiness management, global agriculture and more. Learn to share the story of science through a 15-hour minor in agricultural and environmental sciences communication. Combining subject area knowledge from your major with communication frameworks, strategies and multimedia tools, you will learn to effectively communicate science to a variety of audiences. Students in this minor build knowledge and skills in visual literacy, media literacy, science literacy, and an increased understanding of issues related to communication, agriculture, natural resources, and the environment. The Community Economics and Social Dynamics minor provides students with tools for planning and developing the future of the agricultural community. Students gain knowledge with the fundamental learning objectives of sociology, economics, and administration. Read more in the Undergraduate Catalog

An 18-hour minor in leadership and communication is available through the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication. Combining a leadership and communication minor with any degree strengthens students’ “employability” base by making them competent technical professionals who are also strong leaders and effective communicators. The Leadership and Entrepreneurship minor is designed for students across University boundaries with interests in both leadership and entrepreneurship. Increasingly, students will be required to formulate and develop trans-disciplinary solutions as professionals in their respective fields. Students completing this minor will be better prepared to utilize such trans-disciplinary approaches in effective problem solving, business creation, and community building, all of which are underpinned by innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
