Temperature

Temperatures were above normal for the majority of the region. The highest temperatures were 15°F to 20°F above normal in central and western Wyoming and a small area in western North Dakota. The lowest temperatures were 0°F to 5°F below normal in northeastern and southeastern Colorado.

Temperatures were above normal for most of the region. Temperatures across central Wyoming, scattered parts across central South Dakota, and southwestern and northeastern North Dakota reached 15°F to 20°F above normal. The hottest temperature was 58°F in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, which is 12°F above normal for the area. The lowest temperatures were 0°F to 5°F below normal in northeastern and southeastern Colorado.

Temperatures in southern Kansas, a small area in southcentral Nebraska, a small part of northeastern Colorado, and northwestern Wyoming reached temperatures 0°F to 5°F below normal, with a part of northwestern Wyoming reaching 5°F to 10°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 4°F in Grand Forks, North Dakota, which is 5°F above normal for the area. The highest temperatures were 15°F to 20°F above normal in central and parts of western and eastern Wyoming and a small area in western North Dakota.

Precipitation 

Precipitation amounts varied in the region, ranging from 2 percent of normal in the majority of Kansas, central and western Colorado, western and eastern Wyoming, around Nebraska’s eastern, southern, and western borders, southwestern and central South Dakota, and scattered areas in central North Dakota, to 400 percent of normal in northcentral Nebraska and southcentral South Dakota. While the entire region was mostly dry and received little precipitation, Valentine, Nebraska received 0.46 inches of precipitation; most of it fell on the 13th. Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions decreased from 54 percent to 50 percent. In the region, Wyoming experienced the highest increase in D0 conditions by 10 percent while Nebraska experienced the highest decrease in D0 conditions by 20 percent.
